While we are in constant electronic communication with all the girls,
we are very excited to now have a DAEF employee present in Ayacucho to assist them in person. Maria Luisa Guitterez is an
experienced teacher and social worker from Ayacucho. She now meets with the girls once a month as an academic advisor. She
helps the girls stay focused on their academic and career goals, and keeps us informed when extra materials or tutors are
needed to best help the girls with their progress.
This
is the first time the girls have an adult role model in their lives to motivate them and believe in them. Maria Luisa is known
for challenging the girls, yet she also sees them all as her daughters by helping them through their challenges and celebrating
their successes. This year Maria Luisa will help us with the application process as we begin supporting new young women in
Ayacucho.
