In Spring 2008, the Chicago Tribune featured the following story about DAEF.

Daughters of Ayacucho Educational Fund (DAEF) is a charity organized to fund the post high school educational expenses of impoverished girls in Ayacucho, Peru.  The scholarship covers the expenses for the preparatory course and college entrance exam, room and board, and books and supplies at a Peruvian university.  The girls also attend monthly mentoring sessions with a local leader and mentor. The goal of DAEF is to educate as many women as possible from Ayacucho.

We are excited to say that we are now sponsoring ten girls! Pilar, our original scholarship recipient, is thrilled to be a student at the Peruvian University, where she is studying environmental engineering. We are also so excited for Noelia, who was admitted to one of South America's most prestigious universities, the Univeristy of San Cristobal, to study biology. The girls' focus and determination is inspirational.

Because the scholarship money is used internationally, DAEF is extremely cautious handling the funds.  Our local employee, Maria Luisa works with the universities and prep schools to ensure safe payments.
